Chairman of the Parliamentary ad-hoc committee, Emmanuel Bedzrah, has confirmed that public hearings on the disruptions at the Appointments Committee will resume on Friday, February 7, 2025.

The proceedings, which were unexpectedly suspended on Wednesday, February 5, were initially believed to be on the orders of Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin. However, it was later revealed that the directive had actually come from the Clerk of Parliament without the Speaker’s knowledge.

Speaking on Joy FM on Thursday, February 6, the Ho West MP clarified that Speaker Bagbin has now instructed the committee to continue its work without further delays.

“I need to meet with my committee members this morning. We have scheduled a meeting at 3 PM, by which time I expect to have received further details from the Speaker. As a result, there will be no public hearings today, but we will reconvene tomorrow, February 7,” Bedzrah explained.

He further emphasized the Speaker’s firm position on the matter.

“The Speaker reached out and made it clear that we cannot halt this process. He has now issued direct instructions to the Clerk for us to proceed,” he added.
