The Coalition of NABCO Trainees has urgently sought the intervention of the National Peace Council amid an ongoing crisis regarding unpaid allowances, which have been overdue since 2021.
The Coalition expressed deep frustration over the continued delays and has announced plans to stage a major protest at the Jubilee House forecourt if their issues are not resolved, with the demonstration set to occur a week before the upcoming elections.
The Coalition is calling on the National Peace Council to mediate in hopes of resolving the matter and averting further unrest. In their formal petition, they outlined the significant hardships caused by the unpaid allowances, emphasizing the potential risks to national security and stability if the situation remains unresolved.
Despite numerous petitions to the Office of the President and relevant Ministries, the matter remains unresolved, leading trainees to consider more drastic measures.
The Coalition stressed the critical role of the National Peace Council in upholding peace during the election period. They urged the council to engage directly with the President to expedite the resolution of the unpaid allowances.
The Coalition expressed their hope that the Peace Council’s intervention will be pivotal in safeguarding national security and ensuring a smooth and peaceful election.
