Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has successfully reached an out-of-court settlement with actress Martha Ankomah over a GH₵5 million defamation lawsuit. The agreement was finalized on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, after initial negotiations collapsed.

Following the settlement, both parties are expected to file the terms of their agreement and appear before Justice Forson Baah Agyepong on April 1, 2025, for it to be adopted as a consent judgment.

Earlier in court, Lilwin’s legal team had proposed a GH₵150,000 settlement, including GH₵50,000 for legal fees. However, this was swiftly rejected by Martha Ankomah’s counsel, Nii Applatu Plange, who described the offer as an “eyesore.” He emphasized that his team had already made significant concessions, reducing their initial demand from GH₵5 million to GH₵2 million, making Lilwin’s counteroffer unacceptable.

Lilwin’s counsel defended the proposal, arguing that while the injury to Martha Ankomah’s reputation was difficult to quantify, they were offering what they deemed a reasonable sum. She further stated that they acknowledged Martha’s stature but could not afford the financial compensation her reputation might command.

As tensions rose, Lilwin, through his manager, made a revised offer of GH₵200,000, including legal fees. This led to further discussions, during which both parties met in chambers—this time without the judge—to negotiate privately.

After nearly two hours, they returned to inform the court that they had reached a final settlement. While the exact agreed-upon amount remains undisclosed, the settlement terms reportedly include a new, properly worded public apology and retraction from Lilwin.

The court will reconvene on April 1, 2025, to officially adopt the settlement as a consent judgment.
