Renowned Sports Journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah appointed as Director-General  of National Sports Authority - Citi Sports Online

Veteran Ghanaian sports broadcaster Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has been named the new Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), taking over from Acting Director General Seth Panwum.

Ampofo Ankrah brings a wealth of experience to the role, having built an illustrious career with top media organizations such as the BBC, SuperSport, and Metro TV. He currently serves as the Head of Sports at MAX FM and is widely respected for his contributions to sports journalism.

In his new position, he will collaborate with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to enhance the development, management, and promotion of both professional and recreational sports nationwide. His mandate includes fostering national unity through sports, promoting health and fitness initiatives, and ensuring the effective management of sports infrastructure for long-term sustainability.

Sports stakeholders have expressed optimism about his appointment, believing that his leadership will drive innovation and progress in Ghana’s sports administration.

Beyond broadcasting, Ampofo Ankrah has played a key role in the growth of beach soccer in Ghana. As President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) and a former leader of the Beach Soccer Committee under the Ghana Football Association (GFA), he has been instrumental in the sport’s development.

As he steps into this new leadership role, the sports fraternity looks forward to his impact, anticipating transformative policies that will elevate Ghana’s sports sector both locally and on the international stage.
