President John Mahama has, with immediate effect, revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly as a member of the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). In her place, the President has nominated Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke to join the Board.

The directive was contained in an official statement issued by the Office of the President on May 23, 2025. The statement, signed by Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, instructed relevant authorities to take steps to facilitate the swearing-in of Prof. Yorke.

“Kindly take the necessary steps to facilitate the swearing-in of Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke accordingly,” the letter noted. It concluded with, “Please accept the assurances of the highest consideration of His Excellency, the President of the Republic.”

While the statement did not provide reasons for the revocation of Anne Sansa Daly’s appointment, there has been public concern regarding her professional qualifications. Specifically, questions have been raised about her lack of a medical license to practice in Ghana.

Prof. Ernest Yorke brings with him a wealth of experience in the medical field. A respected practitioner and former Greater Accra Regional Chair of the Ghana Medical Association, his nomination has been widely welcomed as a strong and credible choice for the NHIA Board.
