Parliament has confirmed the second group of ministers nominated by President John Mahama, following their successful vetting by the Appointments Committee.

The committee unanimously endorsed Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale South; Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP for Adaklu; and Eric Opoku, MP for Asunafo South, for their respective ministerial roles.

The plenary debate on the nominations took place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Asiamah Amoako presiding. During the discussions, both the Majority and Minority sides praised the nominees for their expertise, leadership qualities, and notable achievements.

After thorough deliberations, Parliament approved the nominations, clearing the way for the appointees to assume their ministerial positions and contribute to national development.

The Second Deputy Speaker subsequently confirmed the appointments.

Parliament has approved Haruna Iddrisu as Minister of Education, Kwame Governs Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways, and Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture.

This second wave of ministerial confirmations follows their successful vetting by the Appointments Committee and complements the first group of ministers earlier approved by Parliament.

The approvals mark a significant step forward in President John Mahama’s mission to assemble a skilled and effective team to tackle the nation’s critical challenges. With these appointments, the government is poised to make strides in key sectors, including education, infrastructure, and agriculture.
