The Interior Ministry has announced the imposition of a curfew on Walewale and its surrounding communities in the North East Region following recommendations from the Regional Security Council.

In a statement signed by Minister Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, the government stated that the curfew, implemented through an Executive Instrument, will take effect from Saturday, February 15, 2025, and will be enforced daily from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Additionally, a total ban has been placed on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within the affected areas. The Ministry has cautioned that anyone found carrying such weapons will face arrest and prosecution.

The government has called on chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and the youth to remain calm and pursue peaceful resolutions to any ongoing disputes. It also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region and urged full cooperation from residents to help restore stability.
