Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee and Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has disclosed that the committee has so far received over 700 petitions from the public.

Speaking in an interview with Citi FM in Accra, Mr. Ablakwa stated that the committee is currently reviewing the submissions and plans to present its findings to President John Mahama in the near future.

“We are in the process of compiling all the cases, and a comprehensive report will be submitted to the president soon. So far, we’ve received over 700 petitions, and while it’s been a challenging task, there is strong political will to see this through,” he revealed.

He reiterated the committee’s unwavering commitment to ensuring accountability and delivering on its mandate.

“We are deeply committed to this process. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate the same level of passion and dedication we showed while in opposition. Now, in government, we aim to uphold the same principles. This initiative serves as a clear deterrent to those of us in government and future administrations,” Mr. Ablakwa said.

The ORAL Committee is expected to conclude its work in the coming weeks, with extensive efforts underway to validate the reported cases.

“We are aiming to wrap up within the next few weeks. Our field validation in the capital, where much of the alleged looting occurred, is almost complete. Beyond this, we’ve received petitions from all parts of the country, and starting this weekend, we’ll be traveling to the regions to conduct validation sessions,” he explained.

Mr. Ablakwa expressed confidence that the committee has gathered enough information to make significant progress and emphasized the importance of reaching all regions to ensure a comprehensive report.

The committee’s work has been widely viewed as a critical step toward ensuring transparency, holding public officials accountable, and discouraging acts of corruption in government.
