President John Mahama has named Bernard Ohemeng-Baah, a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, as the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Insurance.

In his new role, Ohemeng-Baah will assist the Acting Commissioner in overseeing the regulation, supervision, and development of Ghana’s insurance sector.

A Chartered Insurer with over two decades of experience in both academia and industry, Ohemeng-Baah holds a Master of Laws in Insurance Law from Queen Mary University of London. He also possesses a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Insurance major) from the University of Ghana.

His deep understanding of Ghana’s insurance landscape, combined with insights gained from exposure to global best practices in the United Kingdom and the United States, positions him well for this leadership role.

Beyond insurance, his expertise spans multi-country software project management, venture capital fundraising, and the application of artificial intelligence in the insurance industry.

Ohemeng-Baah will work alongside Dr. Abiba Zakariah, the Acting Commissioner of Insurance, who brings 30 years of industry experience, as they lead the National Insurance Commission into its next phase of growth.
