Mahama makes key National Security appointments

President John Mahama has named Prosper Douglas Bani, a former Chief of Staff, as the new National Security Advisor.

The announcement, made by Acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, also confirmed several other key appointments in the national security sector.

DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak has been designated as the National Security Coordinator, a role that involves streamlining and unifying security strategies across various agencies. Meanwhile, retired COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has been appointed Director of Operations at the Presidency, where he will oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations.

Additionally, Charles Kipo has been appointed as the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau, a role critical to national intelligence and security planning.

The appointments come on the heels of President Mahama’s recent visit to Bawku, where he emphasized his administration’s focus on addressing pressing security challenges. The statement highlighted the appointees’ extensive experience and expertise, underscoring the President’s commitment to bolstering national security and safeguarding citizens.
