The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced the designation of the Ghana International Press Centre (GIPC) as a central venue for press conferences related to the upcoming elections.

This initiative, aimed at fostering credible and transparent elections, seeks to provide a convenient platform for political stakeholders and media professionals during the electoral season.

In a statement issued by GJA General Secretary Kofi Yeboah, the Association revealed that the Gifty Afenyi Dadzie Conference Hall at the GIPC will be available to political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders for holding press briefings.

To ensure comprehensive coverage, the GJA has urged media outlets to position their reporting teams at the Press Centre throughout the election period.

As part of its election initiatives, the GJA also plans to set up a National Media Collation Centre (NMCC) at the GIPC. The NMCC will serve as a hub for gathering and compiling election results, with real-time projections displayed on large monitors for easy access by the media, political stakeholders, and the public.

“This effort underscores the GJA’s commitment to supporting credible elections by promoting transparency and accessibility,” the statement highlighted.

The GJA expressed optimism that the Press Centre’s availability and the establishment of the NMCC would strengthen the relationship between the media and political actors, contributing to peaceful and credible elections.

Media organisations have been encouraged to leverage the resources provided at the GIPC and actively participate in election-related activities coordinated by the GJA.

The Association believes that these initiatives will enhance the quality of election reporting and foster trust and cooperation during this critical period.
