The Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its readiness to complete the collation of parliamentary results for Ablekuma North, following previous delays due to security concerns.

Deputy Director of Research at the EC, Fred Tetteh, confirmed that the Commission is prepared to proceed with the process once security arrangements are in place.

The collation was initially suspended, but a High Court ruling on January 4, 2025, directed the EC to finalize and declare results for four pending parliamentary elections. While collation for Ablekuma North commenced on January 8, 2025, it was disrupted due to incomplete results from three polling stations. A rescheduled attempt on January 17, 2025, was also halted following security warnings from the Ghana Police Service.

In a statement issued on January 17, the EC attributed the latest delay to inadequate security at the collation center, which led to an invasion by party supporters.

Speaking on Citi FM on Thursday, Mr. Tetteh assured that the Commission is prepared to complete the process.

“As it stands, we are ready to finalize the collation by adding results from the three remaining polling stations and making the final declaration,” he stated.

He further emphasized that the EC has taken proactive measures to prevent further disruptions.

“We have formally requested security from the police to ensure a smooth process. Once adequate security is provided, we will proceed without delay. The results are ready; all that remains is to add them up and declare the winner,” he explained.
