“CAF sent us a proposal to host the Women’s Champions League. They recognize that Ghana has the facilities required, largely thanks to the infrastructure we developed for the African Games,” Ussif explained.

The CAF Women’s Champions League, which was launched in 2021, has been hosted by Egypt, Morocco, and Côte d’Ivoire in its first three editions. Ghanaian clubs have participated in the tournament, with Hasaacas Ladies finishing as runners-up in the inaugural event, and Ampem Darkoa Ladies securing fourth place in last year’s edition.

In addition to the Women’s Champions League bid, Ussif confirmed that Ghana will be hosting the African Athletics Championships next year. “Ghana has also been selected to host the upcoming African Athletics Championships,” he noted, highlighting the country’s growing presence on the continental sports stage.
