Ghana’s senior women’s national football team, the Black Queens, have arrived safely in Ben Slimane, Morocco, as they gear up for the 2024 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The team touched down at their training base in the early hours of Tuesday, June 17, after departing from Kotoka International Airport earlier that morning. Their arrival marks the beginning of final preparations ahead of the continental showpiece, which is set to kick off on July 5 and conclude on July 26.

Head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren recently named a 24-player preliminary squad for the tournament. While not all players have joined the camp yet, the full team is expected to assemble in the coming days.

The Black Queens have been drawn into Group C, where they will face defending champions South Africa, as well as Mali and Tanzania. Following a series of friendly matches under the guidance of coach Bjorkegren, the squad is determined to make a strong start to their campaign as they chase their first-ever WAFCON title.
