The Acting Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Seth Panwum, has assured that the Accra Sports Stadium is in prime condition ahead of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad next month.

With the Baba Yara Stadium recently disqualified from hosting CAF and FIFA-sanctioned matches, the Accra Sports Stadium has been selected as the venue for the Black Stars' home games.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Panwum dismissed concerns about the facility’s readiness, emphasizing that it has been consistently maintained and upgraded to meet international standards.

“The Accra Sports Stadium is in excellent shape and remains a solid venue for matches,” he stated. “Since the Baba Yara Stadium was ruled out, we have put in the necessary efforts to refurbish and sustain the quality of the Accra Sports Stadium.”

He also refuted reports suggesting the stadium was in poor condition, describing such claims as inaccurate and misleading.

Panwum further confirmed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially designated the stadium for the Black Stars’ qualifier against Chad on March 17.

“Our discussions with the GFA indicate that the game against Chad will take place here in Accra,” he said.

After the fixture in Accra, the Black Stars will travel to face Madagascar for their Matchday 6 encounter.
