Okaikwei Central MP, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has strongly criticized social activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor over his bribery allegations against the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

During a committee session on Wednesday, where Barker-Vormawor was present, Mr. Boamah insisted that the activist must be held accountable for his claims. He referenced two social media posts dated January 24 and 25, 2025, in which Barker-Vormawor alleged that some nominees were paying bribes to secure approval.

Denial and Backlash

Despite the growing controversy, Barker-Vormawor denied authorship of the posts, stating that he had no knowledge of their origins. However, Mr. Boamah dismissed his defense as dishonest, pointing out that the activist had failed to issue a disclaimer even after four days of public outcry.

“He is sitting before us today, denying any knowledge of these posts. Yet, after over 96 hours, he has not retracted or clarified his statements. How fake and dishonest can one be? This is truly disgraceful,” Mr. Boamah asserted.

Calls for Accountability

The MP argued that Barker-Vormawor’s attempt to distance himself from the allegations was an afterthought and insisted that he must face the consequences of his actions.

In response, Barker-Vormawor pledged to delete the post, issue a formal disclaimer, and apologize for the incident. However, his assurances did little to quell concerns over the credibility and impact of his accusations.
