Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has reversed his earlier decision and lifted the suspension of four Members of Parliament (MPs), allowing them to return to the chamber with immediate effect.
The affected MPs—Frank Annoh-Dompreh (Nsawam-Adoagyiri), Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor (South Dayi), Jerry Ahmed Shaib (Weija-Gbawe), and Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli (Gushegu)—have been directed to resume their parliamentary duties.
This decision follows an appeal from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who urged the Speaker to reconsider his action. Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga also backed the request, acknowledging the Minority’s cooperation during the vetting of Ministers-designate.
The MPs were initially suspended due to disruptions that occurred during the Appointments Committee’s vetting session.
Despite lifting the suspension, Speaker Bagbin reaffirmed that a special committee would continue investigating the disturbances that led to the disciplinary action.
