Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has strongly condemned a joint raid by operatives from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and National Security on its offices in Osu and Tema, describing the action as “unjustified” and potentially damaging to Ghana’s revenue monitoring efforts.

The raid, which took place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, reportedly occurred without prior notification, formal engagement, or the presentation of a legal warrant, according to a statement issued by the company on Wednesday, June 11. SML insists it had fully cooperated with the OSP and had submitted all requested documentation as far back as March 27, 2025.

The company expressed concern over the seizure and damage of vital equipment during the operation. Items taken included servers, gold analyzers, IT systems, and sensitive documents. In addition, four staff members were briefly detained, while two allegedly suffered physical assault.

SML warned that the raid has disrupted its real-time fuel monitoring operations, a key service it provides to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). Monitoring activities at 26 petroleum depots have come to a halt, and critical systems for tracking fuel volumes and potential tax exposure have gone offline. This, the company says, opens the door to illegal nighttime fuel loading and the falsification of fuel records.

According to SML, the resulting disruption could cost the nation over GHS 348 million per month in potential tax losses due to delayed reconciliations and untracked transactions. The company noted that its monitoring systems had previously led to a 92% reduction in discrepancies between GRA and National Petroleum Authority (NPA) fuel data, contributing over GHS 20 billion in additional tax revenue since 2020.

SML further raised alarms about the safety of its intellectual property, which it says was removed without adequate legal safeguards and may now be at risk of being compromised or misused.

The company has appealed to the Ministry of Finance, the GRA, and other relevant government institutions to intervene and help restore its systems. Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, technological innovation, and national progress, SML cautioned that the raid threatens to undo significant advancements made in Ghana’s revenue assurance infrastructure.
