The rerun of the North East Region Council of State election concluded today, with Saska Abuba emerging victorious after securing 7 votes, narrowly defeating Asabigi San Malunga, who garnered 5 votes.

The election was necessitated by an earlier tie, prompting a second round of voting to determine the final winner. Announcing the results, the Deputy Regional Director of the Electoral Commission confirmed that the process was conducted fairly and peacefully.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Region is also set to hold a rerun of its Council of State election after the initial process was suspended due to chaos.

To ensure a smooth process this time, the venue has been relocated from the Regional Coordinating Council to the Prempeh Assembly to minimize disruptions. Security has been reinforced, and officials are on high alert to prevent any disturbances.

A total of 86 delegates are expected to cast their votes to elect the region’s representative on the Council of State.
