Parliament approves Mahama’s three ministers

Parliament has given its approval to the ministerial nominees appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, clearing the way for them to take up their new roles.

The nominees, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance, John Jinapor as Minister for Energy, and Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice, were confirmed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. This follows their vetting by the Appointments Committee on Monday, January 13, 2025.

The vetting process, led by First Deputy Speaker and Akatsi South MP Bernard Ahiafor, involved a thorough review of the nominees’ qualifications, professional experience, and plans for addressing pressing national issues.

After completing its assessment, the Appointments Committee submitted its report to Parliament for debate. According to Adom News’ Ohene Amponsah, the plenary deliberations were marked by in-depth discussions on the nominees’ readiness and ability to handle the responsibilities of their respective portfolios.

With broad support from Members of Parliament, a vote was held, resulting in the nominees’ approval. This marks a significant step in President Mahama’s efforts to strengthen his administration as the new ministers prepare to assume office and tackle critical challenges facing the nation.
