Ghanaian journalist and broadcaster Kofi Adomah Nwanwani has finally broken his silence on his long road to recovery after surviving a life-threatening shooting incident several months ago.

In a heartfelt video posted to his Kofi TV YouTube channel on May 22, 2025, Kofi opened up about his healing journey, expressing immense gratitude to the many people and donors who stood by him during his most difficult moments. Among those he praised was prominent businessman Ibrahim Mahama, whose kindness included offering his private jet to help transport Kofi for overseas treatment.

“This video is to say thank you,” Kofi said emotionally. “But as I’ve always promised, I will not leave any issue unaddressed. There are things I will explain in due time. What I experienced—it truly felt like the end for me. Someone was shot in the leg at Teshie Nungua and died. I was shot in the face. When you look at the medical scans, I still have particles in there. They tell me I’ll have to live with them for some time.”

The award-winning broadcaster also gave an update on the condition of his eyes. Although his vision hasn’t fully returned to normal, Kofi revealed he is now able to see and perform most daily activities, thanks to multiple surgeries and intensive treatment.

“Today, I can say that even though my eyes aren’t as sharp as they used to be, I can see you if you’re standing in front of me,” he shared. “I can read messages. If the text is small, I take a screenshot and zoom in. I can help myself now—and I’m truly thankful to God and to Ghanaians.”

Kofi Adomah was shot in the face on December 21, 2024, while covering the 25th-anniversary celebration of Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II during the Kwafie Festival in Dormaa Ahenkro, located in Ghana’s Bono Region.

Tragedy struck when a musket fired at close range by a chief’s bodyguard during a traditional gun salute ended up hitting Kofi in the eye. He received emergency care at Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital and was later transferred to Berekum Holy Family Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was flown to Dubai for advanced medical treatment—an arrangement generously financed by Ibrahim Mahama.

Kofi also hinted that he will be releasing more videos to address lingering questions and controversies surrounding the incident.
