Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has vowed not to let Acting CEO of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, go unchallenged over her remarks directed at him.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP insisted that Madam Hardcastle must apologize to Parliament for what he described as disrespectful comments.

“I won’t let this slide. She must do whatever is necessary to apologize. She cannot sit back and denigrate Parliament,” Annoh-Dompreh asserted.

The controversy stems from a heated verbal exchange between the two during a recess in the vetting of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister-Designate for Defence. A viral video captured their altercation, with Hardcastle reportedly saying, “You are threatening me? Who are you? You are a micro-minority. Doesn’t Afenyo-Markin himself use that phrase? You think you can bully me here?”

Annoh-Dompreh expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that had he spoken to her in a similar manner, he would have faced severe criticism.

“I didn’t insult her, but I won’t tolerate anyone disrespecting Ghana’s Parliament. If I had behaved that way towards her, I would have been condemned. I believe she had already decided to confront me even before she left home,” he said.

He further speculated that Hardcastle’s reaction was triggered by statements he had made in Parliament, though he insisted he did not provoke her.

“I am reflecting on the situation and will follow due process. I will exhaust all internal mechanisms within Parliament before deciding on the next steps,” he stated.

Annoh-Dompreh added that the Speaker of Parliament had assured him that the matter would be addressed, but he remains firm in ensuring that the issue is resolved properly.

“I won’t let this matter fade away. We will see it through to the end to ensure the right thing is done,” he concluded.
