Ellembelle MP and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has successfully brokered peace within the Western Regional House of Chiefs, bringing an end to a long-standing leadership deadlock during his inaugural visit on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

For nearly five years, the House had been unable to elect executives to preside over its affairs due to persistent election disputes, hampering its ability to function effectively.

During the engagement, the Paramount Chief of the Nsein Traditional Area, Awulae Agyefi Kwame, commended Mr. Buah for his relentless efforts, describing his approach as exemplary. He praised the minister’s humility, integrity, and deep respect for traditional leadership, which played a crucial role in resolving the impasse.

As a result of the reconciliation, the House announced the appointment of Nana Kobinah Nketsia (V), Paramount Chief of the Essikado Traditional Area, as its new President. Additionally, representatives for the National House of Chiefs were also selected, marking a fresh start for the institution.

Mr. Buah expressed immense pride in witnessing the resolution, emphasizing that peace and unity among the chiefs are essential for the region’s progress. He extended gratitude to all paramount chiefs, queen mothers, and stakeholders who contributed to the successful outcome.

Also present at the gathering was Western Regional Minister Nominee, Joseph Nelson, who welcomed the positive development. He acknowledged that without Mr. Buah’s timely intervention, the prolonged dispute could have posed a major challenge to his administration.

This landmark resolution paves the way for enhanced collaboration and development efforts within the Western Region.
