The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has begun a comprehensive training program for its control engineers and system operators to ensure they are well-prepared to manage emergencies during and after the upcoming December elections.

The three-day in-house capacity-building initiative, organized by the Ashanti Sub-Transmission Region at the Boadi Regional Office in Kumasi, focused on equipping participants with the skills needed to handle potential crises. The program targeted control engineers and system operators, who were divided into batches to undergo the intensive training.

Facilitator Ing. Peter Fletcher emphasized that the training was part of ECG’s commitment to delivering quality, safe, and reliable electricity to support the nation’s socioeconomic growth. He assured the public that ECG is fully prepared to meet all energy demands and ensure continuous power supply, especially during critical periods like the elections.

Key facilitators of the program included the General Manager for the Ashanti Sub-Transmission Region, Ing. Kurt Festus Plange, along with Accra Sub-Transmission Control Engineer Ing. Christopher Anafo, who also serves as the Manager for Protection and Control of the Ashanti Sub-Transmission Region. Their expertise contributed to making the program a success, ensuring participants gained the confidence and readiness to perform their duties in the face of any challenges.
