The Ghana Football Association (GFA) remains in a state of indecision regarding the future of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, following an Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Sources close to JoySports reveal that the GFA’s powerful decision-making body has decided to hold further consultations before making a final decision on Addo’s tenure, including seeking the input of politicians.

The meeting, which discussed Addo’s future, saw divided opinions after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco under his guidance. Some members of the Executive Council argued that Addo’s inability to meet his Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) justified his dismissal.

However, other members raised concerns about the negative impact of frequent coaching changes, which have not yielded improved results for the national team. They also pointed out that terminating Addo’s contract would not be financially prudent, considering the severance packages still owed to former coaches CK Akonnor and Chris Hughton.

GFA President Kurt Okraku and his team had hoped to reach a consensus, but the Council remained split despite previous consultations earlier in the week.

JoySports sources indicate that initial consultations seemed to favor retaining Addo as head coach, especially with the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. However, the GFA has decided that additional consultations are necessary before making a final determination.

Addo has made a strong start to the World Cup qualifying campaign, securing two victories against Mali and the Central African Republic.
