EC accuses NDC’s Greater Accra Regional Organiser of leading chaos during Ablekuma North re-collation

The Electoral Commission (EC) has accused the Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of orchestrating an attack on its office last Friday.

The incident reportedly took place as the collation of parliamentary election results for the Ablekuma North Constituency was set to resume.

During the attack, louvre blades and other property at the EC’s old head office were vandalized, allegedly by individuals believed to be linked to the NDC.

In a statement, the EC claimed that the NDC official led the group responsible for the invasion and destruction. The Commission also highlighted the troubling presence of two unidentified individuals dressed in military uniforms, further escalating the chaos.

The EC expressed concerns about threats directed at staff at its new corporate head office, raising alarm over their safety.

In addition, the Commission voiced disappointment over the lack of adequate police protection during the incident, which has caused further delays in the collation and announcement of results for Ablekuma North.

The EC has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those involved in the attack.
