Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister-designate, has pledged to ensure fair pricing for cocoa farmers by working closely with the incoming Minister for Agriculture.

During his appearance before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, January 13, 2025, Dr. Ato Forson highlighted the critical role cocoa farmers play in Ghana’s economy and stressed the importance of fair compensation for their hard work.

“Once the new Agriculture Minister is appointed, I will collaborate with him to guarantee that cocoa farmers are rewarded with fair prices for their produce,” Dr. Ato Forson stated.

He underscored the need to safeguard the livelihoods of cocoa farmers, whose well-being is directly tied to the profitability of cocoa production. According to Dr. Forson, an equitable pricing system is essential to reflect the dedication and contributions of these farmers to Ghana’s economic growth.

Dr. Ato Forson also reiterated his commitment to addressing broader agricultural challenges in collaboration with the Agriculture Ministry, emphasizing that improving the welfare of cocoa farmers would be a key priority under his leadership.

This promise of collaboration signals the incoming administration’s focus on creating a pricing structure that benefits cocoa farmers and recognizes their vital role in the country’s development.
