Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are set to present a joint statement to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), advocating for stronger security measures at league venues amid the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
This move follows violent scenes during the Matchday 19 clash between Nsoatreman FC and Kotoko at the Nana Koromansah II Stadium in Nsoatre last weekend.
The unrest led to the tragic death of a devoted football fan, Francis Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley. The Ghana Police have since launched investigations into the incident, with at least five individuals arrested so far.
In response, Kotoko and Hearts, two of Ghana’s most iconic clubs, have come together to push for enhanced security protocols to prevent such unfortunate events from recurring.
Their decision was reached after a key meeting between the management of both clubs, underscoring their commitment to ensuring safety at league matches.
