Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has successfully secured his parliamentary seat for Techiman South after a court-ordered re-collation of the election results.

The re-collation followed disputes over the initial election outcome in the Techiman South constituency, which became a contentious issue during the 2024 elections. Allegations of irregularities prompted the court to direct the Electoral Commission (EC) to reassess the results to ensure fairness and transparency.

Conducted under tight security, the re-collation confirmed Korsah’s victory with 46,663 votes. His nearest rival, Christopher Beyere Baasongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), received 43,429 votes.

The re-collation of results in Techiman South was part of a broader effort by the EC to address issues in constituencies where the election results were contested. Tensions had run high following the election, with both the NPP and NDC claiming victory. The court’s ruling for a re-collation was seen as a crucial step in resolving the deadlock.

The confirmation of Korsah’s win marks the end of weeks of uncertainty in the constituency, providing clarity and allowing the area to move forward. The smooth and peaceful conclusion of the re-collation process has been praised for demonstrating the importance of judicial oversight and institutional transparency in safeguarding electoral integrity.

Korsah’s victory contributes to the NPP’s growing success in the 2024 parliamentary elections, further strengthening the party’s presence in the legislature.
