Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed strong faith in Otto Addo and his technical team’s ability to guide the Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite missing out on a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Black Stars’ technical team has faced heavy scrutiny, with many questioning their competence. However, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Asante Twum stood by Addo, emphasizing his track record and the team’s potential to bounce back.

Acknowledging changes in the coaching setup since the successful qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Asante Twum pointed out that Addo then had the support of Chris Hughton, George Boateng, and Didi Dramani.

“Otto Addo got us to the World Cup in Qatar, but back then, the technical bench included Hughton, Boateng, and Dramani,” he stated.

“Things are different now, but I still believe in Otto Addo and his current team. They are competent and capable of taking us to the World Cup,” he added.

Currently, Addo is working alongside John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann as assistant coaches, with Fatau Dauda handling the goalkeepers.

Ghana sits second in Group I with 9 points in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers. They are set to face Chad and Madagascar in crucial matches that could determine their path to the tournament co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
