Kwasi Pratt cautions NPP, Free SHS is not enough to win 2020

Nkrumah was overthrown even though he was considered as one of the best leaders in Africa. Mr. Kwesi Pratt cited the example of how things took a sad turn after so much development under Nkrumah. This in relation he cautioned the NPP of the overreliance on Free SHS. He made the statement on Kokrokoo programme on Peace FM today.

The NPP is upbeat about their Free Senior High School (SHS) policy giving them victory during the general elections on Monday, December 7. Due to successful implementation of the Free SHS a few things have been taken for granted by the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo. In the wake of events of Special Prosecutor resigning and apathy among some members of NPP a lot of caution is needed in the process.

According to Mr. Pratt, winning an election has got a lot to do with the choice of the electorate of a suitable candidate than it has to do with who introduced or implemented the free education programme. He made the statement of that "From the 1950s, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah introduced free compulsory basic education; enrollment in Secondary schools went up about nearly 1000 percent in the space of five years and so on but he was even overthrown,"

There is a lot one could take from the assertions of Mr. Pratt, if not anything at all we can cast our mind back to 2008, after a good performance of Mr. Kuffour between 2000 - 2008, however the NPP lost the election. A lot of caution has to be held high for NPP to win the 2020 elections.
