Security forces comprising police and military personnel have been dispatched to Nkwanta to quell renewed violence linked to a chieftaincy dispute in the Tuobodom community.
The clashes, which broke out on January 16, 2025, left a 43-year-old woman with gunshot injuries. She is currently receiving medical care at the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital.
The unrest also led to the destruction of two houses by fire, displacing several families and leaving residents in a state of fear and uncertainty.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese, confirmed the heightened security presence in a social media post.
“A combined police and military team has been swiftly deployed to Nkwanta following the clashes attributed to a chieftaincy dispute. Additional personnel are being dispatched to ensure law and order,” he stated.
The incident has raised concerns over growing tensions in the Nkwanta South District, prompting authorities to call for calm as security measures are strengthened to prevent further escalation.
