Health Minister Raises Alarm Over Unauthorised High-Dose Drugs in Ghana

Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has expressed deep concern over the growing availability of unauthorised high-dose medications in Ghana, cautioning against their harmful health and mental effects.

Addressing Parliament, Mr. Akandoh pointed to the increasing misuse of substances like tramadol, stressing that tackling this issue remains a key priority for the Ministry of Health.

He reassured lawmakers that the government is ramping up efforts through inter-agency collaboration and the enforcement of stricter regulations to curb the menace.

The Minister further revealed that authorities have already begun taking decisive action, including arrests, to dismantle the illegal distribution networks of these dangerous drugs.
