The Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in charge of Management Services, Prof. Smile Gavua Dzisi, has issued a strong warning to candidates writing the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), cautioning them against engaging in any form of examination malpractice.

During a visit to the Nima Cluster of Schools and other exam centres in Accra on Wednesday, June 11, Prof. Dzisi emphasized that the GES is taking a hard stance on cheating and will deal firmly with anyone found culpable.

“We are not tolerating any form of examination malpractice this year—no leakages, no shortcuts,” she told journalists. “Candidates must rely on their own preparation, write what they know, and leave the outcome to God or Allah. No student should risk their future by engaging in dishonest practices.”

She assured the public that the GES has made all necessary preparations to ensure the exams are conducted in a smooth, fair, and secure manner. According to her, the examination centres she visited showed a high level of organization and discipline.

“I’m very impressed with what I’ve seen. Everything is in order—there is calm, and the students are focused and confident. Resources have been adequately provided, and invigilators are doing a commendable job,” Prof. Dzisi noted.

This year’s BECE officially began on Wednesday, June 11, and will run until Wednesday, June 18, 2025. A total of 603,328 candidates are sitting for the exams across the country, including 297,250 boys and 306,078 girls from both public and private schools.

The Greater Accra and Ashanti regions have the highest number of registered candidates. The GES has already dispatched all examination materials and timetables to various centres and says it is fully prepared to ensure the integrity and success of the nationwide exam process.
