George Quaye, Team Lead for ImageBureau, has expressed disappointment in John Dumelo for failing to respond to a remark made by Yendi MP Habib Iddrisu during his vetting as Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture.

During the vetting on February 25, 2025, Habib Iddrisu advised Dumelo not to approach his new role with the mindset of the movie industry, stating, “You are not in your movie industry, try to be as serious as you can.”

The comment has sparked backlash within the creative arts industry, with many considering it dismissive of the profession.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, George Quaye criticized the MP’s statement and expressed disappointment that Dumelo did not push back against it.

“I was a bit disappointed in my brother John Dumelo for not calling it out immediately,” Quaye remarked.

He emphasized that Dumelo missed an opportunity to defend the creative industry, which played a crucial role in his career.

“If it were me, I would have seized that moment to make a strong case for the industry that made me. The sector gave me my platform, and I would stand up for it,” he stated.

Quaye also acknowledged the presence of key creative industry advocates in Parliament, such as A Plus, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and Hon. Sam George, who continue to support the sector.
