The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a nationwide strike starting Thursday, February 13, 2025, in protest against the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.

In an official statement, CLOGSAG clarified that the strike follows a meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) on February 11, 2025, where concerns were raised about the appointment of politically exposed individuals to positions within the Civil Service and local government.

During the meeting, the NEC made it clear that if Mr. Botchway were to take up his post, the association would take industrial action. After his official appointment on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, CLOGSAG confirmed that it had no choice but to proceed with the strike.

As a result, the association has directed all its members to refrain from work starting from the strike’s initiation and until further notice.
